These are random notes. Most are not hard and fast rules, but will be keys to getting your character accepted.
1. This is a GM run board.
This means there is an overarching plot. Your characters will tie into that plot, and become part of it. You can effect the outcome of everyday life, if you work things properly. There will be free roleplay, but there will also be missions and events that are run entirely be my.
2. First time around, don't make a speed based character.
Min-Maxing will not help you. If you are running around with 10 in speed and four in everything else, you will die. You will die so fast that I won't have even accepted you before your character splats. Speed-focused characters are often heavily godmodded, and that is not fun.
3. Don't randomly drop stats.
You are allowed to drop stats if and only if your character has a corresponding disadvantage. You can't just drop a stat because it's not mentioned. An example would be your character having a gimp leg, which would end with a drop in speed. If you do this, you'll just have to put it back up.
4. Do not have kinjutsu. They are not candy.
You can, of course, have kinjutsu - but doing so takes up your special slot. It would replace any bloodline you have, as well as any badass seals. Anything based on 'forbidden' techniques is more or less off limits.
5. Your stats should be reflected in your jutsu.
If your genjutsu is 4, you should not have S-rank genjutsu. The point of stats is to show you where your character is at. A genjutsu stat of four means you should be using C-rank genjutsu.
6. Your jutsu should have ranks.
This is self explanatory. Give me an idea of what level they are.
7. Your advantages and disadvantages should be big.
They are the shining points of your character. The things people see, learn, and find out about them. Your character has a gimp leg, your character is really, really shy. These are some of the most important things about your character.
8. There are three advantages and disadvantages for each Physical, Mental, and Social.
Three might seem like a lot, but remember - biggest parts of your character.
9. Forgive me for my nitpicks.
I will, on occasion, nitpick the hell out of things. Some things will just seem off. I have a tiny little staff who's doublechecking biographies, and if both I and someone else has an issue with it, then it's likely going to be an issue. While some might not present themselves as huge wonderful issues, the vast majority of your history will come up eventually during actual roleplay.
10. Read accepted biographies.
They're public for a reason. They let you see bio's that have already been accepted, and therefore pass all the basic rules. It also lets you know what's been done, so the entire site isn't composed of lightning jutsu users.
11. Stick to normal elements and combinations.
Yes, I know there is dodgy moviecanon that has absurd elements like 'dark'. Please ignore them. Elements should be the main five, and combinations. Unique combinations of the original 5 are fine when used as part of a bloodline.
12. Don't feel the need to make custom jutsu.
Custom jutsu are cool, yes, but easy to do wrong. If you really want a concept, post in GD or PM Flash, who's offered his help when creating jutsu.
13. Movies are not cannon. Video games are not cannon. Filler is not cannon.
Just don't.
